A well-placed retaining wall is not only functional but also a beautiful design element. Retaining walls are used to create tiers on a sloped property that allow for level areas for lawns and planting beds, and additionally may be used to create access for stairs or address certain drainage issues. Walls can be created with concrete, landscape block, timbers, natural stone and boulders.
